Which "Birthday Mom" Are You?

Posted: January 11, 2017

In my role as Waterpark Sales Manager, I meet all kinds of parents, hundreds of children and celebrate various themed birthday parties from super heroes to Disney princesses. As much as I enjoy seeing everyone happy and consuming a bunch of cake, my favorite part of coordinating birthday parties is working with the parents.

With the countless amount of mothers…and fathers I have worked with, I have discovered 5 types of birthday party parents.

1) Pinterest Mom

These moms are so much fun and super creative. I have no idea how they do it, but within 10 minutes they have their tables looking like it walked right out of a magazine.

2) 1st Birthday Mom

Almost every 1st birthday party I have for a little one, the mother is pulling her hair out trying to make the party as perfect as she can. These parties end up with the child stuffing half of the cake in their own mouth with the other mothers, guests, and children laughing and happier than ever.

3) Party Director Mom

If you didn’t know better, you’d think it was the mom’s birthday. Even though I’m here to help direct and host the party, easing the stress from the mother, this mom has full control of the room. Orderly and scheduled, these parties get straight to the fun and make my job super easy!

4) Need-A-Break Mom

Most of the birthday parties I host can have anywhere from 6-15 children running around. These moms come in, send the children out swimming and the dads to Sliders Bar as quick as possible. While the kids and husband are all having a blast, the mother lets out a sigh of relief, kicks up her feet, and relaxes in silence.

5) Two-Hour-Talker Mom

These moms may look like need-a-break moms, but once the children are all out swimming they will sit and talk with me for two hours straight. Sometimes even longer. These mothers are full of so many great stories, share everything, and love their children more than anything else in the world.

6) Dad

Of course we cannot forget about the fathers! Wait, where did he go?

The next time you go to a birthday party take the time to thank the hardworking moms and yes, you too dads. Regardless of the types of parents they are, without them the party would be as exciting as watching paint dry.
